Romanian e-commerce market to exceed EUR 160mln by year end
The e-commerce market is expected to exceed EUR 160 million by the end of 2011, according to statistics released by Romanian credit card transaction processor Romcard.
During the first three quarters of 2011, the volume of online payments has increased by 11 percent as compared to the same period last year, reaching EUR 121.4 million Romcard also reports.
The ePayment platform powered by the e-commerce integrator PayU has processed over 89 percent of the online payments volume, reaching a total value of EUR 106.7 million.
The company has also revealed the fact that electronic purchases made by the customers have witnessed a growing variety. As regards to sectors, online stores selling flowers have grown by 75 percent, those who sell books have grown 76 percent and online gift stores have increased by 64 percent. Online toys stores have witnessed a 56 percent growth while textiles have only increased by 24 percent.
