EBay CEO raises PayPal mobile payment forecast
eBay Chief Executive John Donahoe said total payment volume, or TPV, transmitted by mobile devices through PayPal's system will be more than $3.5 billion in 2011, during a discussion on stage at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco.
eBay is looking to expand in the mobile commerce space by processing mobile payments with smartphone apps such as Red Laser, which allows shoppers to scan bar codes in order to check prices online and at nearby retailers.
A previous assessment made by eBay in 2011 forecasted a USD 3 billion in mobile TPV for the same year.
