December 4th forecast as 'Super Sunday'for Online shopping says eBay.
eBay is predicting a surge in consumers doing their Christmas shopping online on Sunday December 4th.
The online auction giant has dubbed the day 'Super Sunday', and claims it will be this year's busiest online shopping day, with as many as 30 gifts bought every second.
Items bought using smartphones will double from last year's figures and the internet marketplace expects 5.8 million shoppers to log on to their website during the 24-hour period - equivalent to the entire population of Sheffield.
Angus McCarey, retail director for eBay UK said that sales volumes will be around six times the average Sunday in September and highlighted the rise in ecommerce and mcommerce as reasons for the accelerating trend.
"Many people will have less to spend overall this Christmas, so they will do all they can to ensure they are getting a bargain," he added
