Sanderson to fulfil Hamleys mobile Christmas wish
Sanderson has won a contract to pilot a new Mobile Point of Sale solution at Hamleys, during the busy Christmas trading period.
Sanderson is delivering the innovative Mobile PoS solution, in partnership with Retail-J software author Torex, to enable Hamleys to offer its customers a quick and easy way to purchase their goods during busy periods and cut queues.
The solution, which is being piloted at the Regent Street store, uses an Apple iPad together with a handheld Bluetooth scanner, wireless Pin Entry Device (PED) and wireless printer. Hamleys has chosen a utility belt which allows the store assistant to ‘wear’ the PoS - enabling them to move around the store with the devices. This fun approach will provide an effective solution to queues and enhance customer service by permitting the store assistant to take the point of sale directly to the customer.
Mobile PoS is a landmark extension to the Retail-J solution which Hamleys use to run their retail business. Sanderson implemented Retail-J at Hamleys in 2010 and since then has delivered a number of significant business-enhancing projects, including customer preferred currency and tax free shopping options. This is the first Mobile PoS project of its kind within the Retail-J community and will no doubt strike interest across the user base, particularly amongst those with London stores as they plan to capitalise upon increased visitor numbers during the Olympic Games in 2012.
David Oakley, Head of IT at Hamleys commented: “Mobile PoS is the perfect solution to maintaining our high customer service levels during peak trading times. It is completely flexible and has saved valuable retail space that would be lost if we had installed a permanent pay station”.
David Mahoney, Managing Director, Sanderson RBS added “We are pleased to be working with Torex to deliver this innovative mobile solution to Hamleys. It will ensure Hamleys’ excellent customer service levels can be maintained during busy periods, as well as enabling them to offer new specialised services. The solution is fully linked to the Retail-J solution, so all sales and stock data is maintained - it is a Mobile PoS solution with all the benefits and no compromise. ”
