Visa prepares for busiest online shopping day
Visa has predicted that today (December 23rd) will see a record number of people shop online.
The card business has predicted an eight per cent rise in the amount of money spent online using Visa cards on December 23rd compared to the same day last year, which would be the company's biggest ever online haul.
Around 33 million transactions are expected to be completed overall as shoppers reach a total spend of £1.5 billion.
Dr Steve Perry, commercial director at Visa Europe, said the company has already seen growth in online spending but expects tomorrow to top this.
"Consumer spending in the run-up to Christmas has been highly volatile this year, but our data shows that shoppers will eventually embrace the festive season," he added.
It appears that people in the UK are going to shop all through the festive period, with IMRG predicting £186.4 million will be spent on Christmas Day
