E-commerce to reach £28.2 billion in 2011
E-commerce income in the UK could reach £28.2 billion in 2011, accounting for 9 percent of total retail sector income, a recent report has unveiled.
According to the report released Forrester Research Forrester, grocery sales account for 20 percent of the total income, followed by electronic consumer goods (19 percent) and clothing (19 percent).
Addtionally the Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG) Capgemini e-retail Sales Index showed that, online spending in the UK has reached GBP 300 billion in the last 11 years. Annual e-retail spend has increased from GBP 0.8 billion in 2000 to GBP 58.8 billion in 2010. The total market is expected to reach GBP 69 billion in 2011, the report suggests.
