Retailers use recently launched proximity marketing platform to enhance localised consumer communications

A new group of partners, including HMV and SPAR, are starting bigDL trials in-store. In addition, Premier, NISA and Simply Fresh have installed the bigDL technology in-store and signed up to the marketing platform. 

bigDL, which works as both a website and an application,  gives consumers a bird’s eye view of the High Street, showcasing retailer’s new products, the latest deals and ‘what’s hot’. High Street convenience store NISA reported a 15% coupon redemption rate this month, with consumers actively engaging with the deals. 

Rav Garcha, a business advisor and solutions provider for NISA and Simply Fresh, said: "bigDL presented us with a cost-effective and accessible way of implementing new and innovative beacon technology, while enabling it put our marketing directly into the hands of consumers. 
 
“The platform has allowed us to reinvigorate our customer experience and we are seeing the benefits already.  bigDL connects our customers to our brand and brand partners, making shopping easier and more convenient for them.”

Other brands such as Londis, INTERSPORT and Heron Foods have already signed up to the platform, running campaigns that attract consumers both in-store and online.

bigDL pilots began in mid-2014. The bigDL app allows users to personalise their shopping experience by choosing which sectors they wish to be alerted about, meaning only relevant offers appear on their newsfeed. In-store beacons then alert app users with appropriate offerings when they are in range.
